Just Married Exchange 2019 Letter

Hi anon ♥!

My apologies for the late letter! I'll probably go over it again for typos tomorrow but there won't be any substantive changes.

I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] rosecake on AO3 and [tumblr.com profile] rose-cake on Tumblr. Please feel free to ignore the letter if you already know what you'd like to write based on the characters we matched on, everything here is just suggestions! Unless I made a mistake, I’ve requested fic and art for all of my requests.

I really love marriage themes in fic/art, as well as married couples - from people figuring out they want to be married, or finding out that they’re getting married whether they want to or not, to proposals, to exchanging rings or other tokens, to the wedding itself (the clothes alone!) & the wedding night, to the fallout of being married and then later anniversaries and how they manage it.

GAME OF THRONES

Jorah Mormont/Daenerys Targaryen
- marrying to save someone from an arranged political marriage, secret marriage, illegal marriage, courtship, wedding night

I have seen most recent season, and for the setting I’d love something either where maybe they get married earlier, or Dany never leaves Essos, or she comes in through King’s Landing and takes it before heading North so the political situation is different. Or I would love something that just has Jorah surviving the long night, and then getting together with Dany even as she’s losing it and Jorah’s sad about it. Or maybe the Night King wins and takes them both, can White Walkers get married? As for the wedding trope, I would love something where Dany marries Jorah and they’re sort of acting like it’s for political reasons/to put off other suitors except it’s really more than that, OR something where she’s already promised to somebody else or just already married to somebody else and she decides she’d rather be married to Jorah - either they do it in secret and try to keep it as a thing between them, or they go super public with it and cause political drama. I would also just love going through courtship rituals, maybe because they’re expected, maybe because they want that even if they’ve known each other for years? Also I would love a lot of focus on the wedding ceremony/wedding night itself!

Sansa Stark/Brienne of Tarth
- marrying to save someone from an arranged political marriage, secret marriage, illegal marriage, courtship, wedding night

Maybe a canon-divergence AU where things end differently, or where Brienne decides to stay with Sansa in the North, or something set in the future where they’ve kept up contact and they miss each other, or some political/personal issue drives Brienne back North after they’ve been apart for a while. I can see Sansa reaching out to Brienne because she’s the best option, and because she definitely doesn’t want to be married to somebody she doesn’t know/trust again. Or the other way, maybe Brienne is being forced into a marriage for some reason and Sansa comes in to save her? I’m fine with handling the fact that gay marriage isn’t really a thing in this universe however you want - just ignore that, or have it be something they have to keep secret while everyone else just considers them unmarried, or something Sansa gets away with because she’s Queen in the North and she can make her own rules now. I also like the idea of Brienne trying her best at a formal courtship, like how her idea of knight should act. Also, again, I would love a lot of focus on the wedding ceremony/wedding night itself!

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Talos/Soren
- political marriage but mutual pining, marriage proposal, wedding night, wedding anniversary, elopement

I WANT TO KNOW HOW THEY MET. Also I would love world-building about the Skrulls - what is their courtship like, how do they get engaged, what are their weddings light, what kind of expectations do they have from married life? How many skrulls are left at this point, and if Talos was already a general was there a political component to how they met? Are they from the same cultural group, or are they maybe from different factions trying to tie up an alliance? Or maybe they were from different factions and people were upset when they got together anyway. Or did they just meet and fall in love somehow? And how long did they know each other before they got married, and how long were they married before they were separated? I also like the idea of them having been in love for a while but only going ahead and pulling sort of a shotgun wedding when they realized they were going to have to be separated for a while. And what were the anniversary like while they were separated from each other? Or I would like their first anniversary now that they’ve been reunited!

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY<

Galen Erso/Lyra Erso
- marriage proposal, blurting out proposal unplanned, romantic proposal, elopement, wedding night, first anniversary

I would really love to see more of their early relationship, and how they met and how they fell in love! If you go by the canon from the novels it really does seem like a whirlwind romance, including getting married in half a year, but I’d really like to see any kind of take on it. Like, did they have it planned out, or did one of them just throw out that they wanted to get married and then they ran with it? Or maybe it was something practical - it was easier to get travel papers together or something if they’re married - and they just sort of went with that? How did Lyra’s family feel about it? How did Krennic feel about it (did he try to sabotage it)? I also really like wedding night fic (I think I may have requested it for everything) - either for that hot xxx newly-wed porn, or if they’re just exhausted and collapsing into bed together. I also like that period where they’re adjusting to what it’s like being married, and how it is to actually live together long-term. I also really like anniversaries! I went with the first anniversary tag but also any anniversary, maybe they’re first anniversary after being separated for a while is really meaningful? Or the first one they have on Lah’mu?

Galen Erso/Orson Krennic
- forced marriage, arranged marriage, wedding night, dark wedding, political marriage that makes everything worse

There are two main ways to do this and I like both - things go differently and Galen never meets Lyra, maybe Orson just goes into private industry instead of the military and they get married then, either to live happily ever after or happily until Galen realizes Orson has murdered a ton of people and is probably going to murder a lot more. Or, something set after Lyra dies - either on Lah’mu, or maybe something where they never escape Coruscant? And they get married then, once Galen understand just who it is that he’s marrying - maybe Galen encourages it as a distraction, maybe Orson pushes him into or manipulates him into it - says it will help protect Jyn, or it’s a way to get Galen clemency for running away from the project in the first place, or maybe he gets caught in sabotaging it and Orson uses that as leverage. Maybe Orson is trying to make it be for some very reasonable political reason when it’s very clear that he just wants Galen. Or, maybe it’s the other way around - even after everything Galen doesn’t want to see Orson executed and somehow marriage is an answer to that.

Also, for these three (Lyra, Galen, and Orson) I like the dynamic between all three of them, so feel free to have Orson in the Galen/Lyra or Lyra in the Galen/Orson.

Jyn Erso/Orson Krennic
- forced marriage, arranged marriage, wedding night, dark wedding, political marriage that makes everything worse

I’d love to see this all kinds of ways - either something where Krennic is into her, either because his Galen issues or otherwise, or something where some third party (Tarkin? Palpatine??? Forcing arranged marriages between people who hate each other seems like something he’d do for kicks!) and he’s just as enraged as Jyn is about it. I’ll take all kinds of Canon Divergence here - raised-in-the-Empire Jyn, caught after years of being on the run Jyn, something where it’s all part of an Alliance undercover operation, something where it’s a way to keep Jyn/her family from being executed, or something where Jyn and Krennic end up on the same side with mutual goals. And if it something on/both of them are forced into, how far are they going to take it, in terms of sex or in terms of actually looking out for each other?

Jyn Erso/Bodhi Rook, Jyn Erso/Cassian Andor, Jyn Erso/Bodhi Rook/Cassian Andor
- undercover as married, undercover as married while mutual pining, real wedding night for fake marriage, arranged marriage - mutual pining between spouses, wedding night

I like both the kind of canon divergence where they all live and also the kind of canon divergence where they met under different circumstances - Galen has Bodhi and Jyn get married as some kind of cover for them escaping the Empire, or Cassian and Jyn get married as part of a political arrangement between the Alliance and the Partisans, or Jyn’s in the Empire and her relationship with Cassian is a spying/rescue attempt! Including a joint rescue attempt with Bodhi? Or I like it as they’re undercover for the alliance and the job requires them to be married for some reason - maybe they’re impersonating a real married couple/triad, or they think going undercover as family makes them stick out less. Or maybe they’re stuck on a planet and get carried away by some alien custom that means they HAVE to get married - either while they’re still pining, or maybe they have a relationship bu they’re just not far along, or hell maybe they’re at the point where they just shrug and go along with it because really they were going to get married eventually once they had the time. Maybe it’s a culture that expects a woman Jyn’s age to have more than one husband already. And if there has to be some kind of public consummation for ~reasons~. Also, for the Jyn/Cassian/Bodhi, I like either all three of them being thrown into it at once or with any two of them being a more established couple and newly bringing the third person in.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Enfys Nest/Qi’ra
- political marriage to enemy that turns to love, secret marriage, marrying a rival to save their life, married to save family/allies, political marriage but mutual pining

I want them to get hitched so bad! I love the idea of it being as some kind of complicated peace deal, or maybe they’ve got an enemy mine situation and after one side decisively loses the other one goes ahead and marries them - to keep them close, to save them from prison or execution, maybe Qi’ra just wants to have Enfys as a prize that she also has a lot of feelings for? Or maybe Enfys really believes Qi’ra can be a decent person and takes responsibility for making it happen. I would also love something where they’re trying to make out like it’s a purely political move even though it really is because of their feelings. Or maybe Enfys volunteers for it as a way to keep the Crimson Dawn from coming down on the rest of her people. Or maybe they’re both still on separate sides of the conflict but they have secret relationship going on! I would love something set during either the Empire or as a result of the political upheaval once it falls apart. Or, I would love something once they’re already married, and how that marriage affects their political roles.

STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES

Christine Chapel/Nyota Uhura
- aliens make them get married, alien marriage traditions, accidental marriage, undercover as married, real wedding night for fake marriage

I really all the good old-fashioned Star Trek tropes of people accidentally getting married without realizing it, or aliens instating that they’re already married for some reason and making them act like they married, or they’re undercover as married somewhere and for some reason the aliens want them to ~prove~ that they really are as married as they say they are. Or maybe they have to get married and they agree to go along with it and then they’re surprised when they’re expected to go through the whole wedding night and everything? Or maybe it’s not expected but they decide they’d really like to go ahead with it anyway! Maybe Uhura is the only one who can speak the language, so she understands the aliens think they’re married and she’s trying to explain that they’re not but Chapel keeps doing things to convince them otherwise? Or maybe they need to get married to get access to each other - for medical treatment/decisions, or maybe some aliens have them on trial and they don’t want to testify against each other or they’re just trying to see each other in alien jail.

Spock/Leonard McCoy
- aliens make them get married, alien marriage traditions, accidental marriage, undercover as married, real wedding night for fake marriage

I have all the same prompts as above for this pairing as well, although with Spock/McCoy you have all the added Vulcan issues! For the “alien” in the tags I’m good with that either being third party aliens or it being Vulcan marriage traditions/Vulcans making them get married for some reason. Maybe carrying somebody’s katra is auto-marriage for them? Maybe Spock knows this but McCoy doesn’t realize it at first? Or maybe they’re married but the Vulcans want them to undergo all the proper marriage ritual to make everything official. I’m good with them wanting to get married, both acting like they’re going ahead with it to avoid problems but really they do actually want to get married. Or maybe something Mirror Spock did created a bond and Spock decides he’s going to take responsibility? Or it’s some kind of Pon Farr accident? Please feel free to make up whatever Vulcan custom/biology/psychology you want.
