Trick or Treat Exchange 2018 Letter

I'm rosecake on AO3 and rose-cake on Tumblr. I hope you have a lovely Halloween this year!

As a general note, please feel free to disregard the letter if you already know what you'd like to write/draw based on what character you matched on. I selected trick and treat on everything, because I am both a fan of things sweet/romantic and horrifying/tragic. I'm into a very wide range of tone and story/art types - I like comedy, I like tragedy, I like fluff, I like soul-crushing angst, I like filthy porn, I like gentle hand-holding, I like established relationships, I like getting together stories, I like realistic art, I like stylized art, I like Eastern and Western styles, etc, etc. Also, for art, there's nothing I like reading that would be put off by in visual form.

I really enjoy gen, and would love it for any of these characters, but for all of them I've also listed pairings I like if you want to write romance or smut. In terms of shipping, I don't have any preferences as to topping/bottoming, or for the darker things I don't have any issues regarding which gender/character is doing/receiving or anything like that.

Also, because this is a Halloween exchange, I really want to emphasize how much I love Halloween! I like ghosts/hauntings/horror, and I love it as a holiday where people think of the boundary between the living and the dead as being weak. At the same time, I ALSO really love it as a holiday where people get do dress up as whatever they want in fancy costumes and eat ludicrous amounts of candy they got from strangers! For the Earth-based canons I would love something Halloween-themed, and for the ones that don't have Halloween please feel free to make up a space/fantasy holiday that's gets at whatever parts of it you like.

Earth-2 Laurel Lance
I love her! I would love more of her time back on her own Earth, and how she became a criminal, or more of her going up against Team Flash when she makes over to the prime universe. I love her as the villain of the story, or as the hero, or as the victim, whatever you want to write - her role was one of my favorite parts of the most recent season and I'd really love to see more of her trying to fit herself into Laurel's place and how she feels about that and about what she's done. Or future fic! Where does she go from here? I'd love more of her interacting with Sara, or hunting down Diaz for revenge. Or AU where Quentin survives and they try to make their weird family relationship work! Ship-wise I like her with Sara, Diaz, and Dinah.

Quentin Lance
At least let him hug some people before he dies ;___; I would love any of the multiple times he ends up grieving over his children dying, or something where he's so happy that they're actually alive! Or more of him trying to balance his obligations to his job and the city with all the Arrow drama going on around him. I would really love to see something with him and Laurel, Laurel-2, or Sara. Or something where he survives! And he and Sara and Laurel-2 can be a weird, awkward assassin family together! Or ship-wise I also like him with Oliver and Rene, or for something way darker with Diaz.


DC's Legends of Tomorrow
Amaya Jiwe
I love Amaya and how focused she is, and how willing she is to sacrifice for what she thinks is right. I love time travel and would love any sort of hijinks with her running around in the past, and getting to see historical events through her eyes. I would also really love to read more about her time in the JSA, and her relationship with the other members of that team. How did she think her life was going to go before she ended up in the future? I would also love anything that delves into her powers and how she relates to them and feels about them. I'd also love her interacting with Mari! Relationships wise, I love her with Rex, Sara, Ray, Courtney, Kendra, Mick and Nate. I also would love art of any of these characters in period costume! 

Ray Palmer
Ray! I love him so much! He's just always trying to be so positive even when things are going really terribly for him, and sometimes just doesn't quite manage it. I would love more of him when he was first starting out with his business, or I would like more of him time-traveling, maybe getting to meet more of his heroes! Or trying to see the best in really terrible people! Ship-wise THERE ARE SO MANY: I like him with Nora, Mick, Leonard, Kendra, Sara, Zari, Damien, really anyone from the Legion, any combination of those people, or just the whole Waverider coming up with a Ray timeshare.


Horror of Dracula
Van Helsing
This is one of my favorite versions of Dracula, and a lot of it is how much I like Peter Cushing's Van Helsing! He's so calm and helpful, even when people around him are losing it. Like always, I would love backstory - how did he get involved in the vampire hunting business in the first place? How did he meet Jonathan? Or I would like more of his reflection on the events of the movie - how did he feel about loosing both Jonathan and and not being able to save Lucy? Or what if he'd been caught by Dracula! What kind of vampire would he have made, or would Dracula have left him human? Or I would love something with him and the Holmwoods celebrating Dracula's (apparent!) defeat. Ship-wise, I like him with Dracula, Mina, Jonathan, or pretty much anyone who's been turned.


James Bond
Le Chiffre
I'd love anything set during the movie, with Le Chiffre dealing with the stress of his criminal empire blowing up around him. Or I'd love seeing him interact with the various organizations he worked for, or him plotting Bond's demise. Did he have any direct interaction with Vesper before the staged kidnapping? I'd also love more of him tormenting Bond, or Vesper. Or maybe, instead of having him be the tormenter, he can get tortured after his creditors catch up with him. Or how would things have turned out if he'd won the game? Or how would things have gone if, instead of the whole showdown at the casino, MI-5 had tried a more traditional approach and had Bond try to infiltrate his gang? For anything involving smut/porn, I'd love him with Bond, Vesper or Valenka. 


Marvel Cinematic Universe
Ava Starr
Ghost ;__; I loved her story so much! I would love more of her growing up with Bill, or being forced into questionable missions for SHIELD, or trying to find a way to fix herself. Or what is her life like now that she's been stabilized? How does she feel about being able to really touch people for the first time in years? Or just live and walk around without being in pain? How does she feel about the past things she's done? And what is she doing with her life now that she has real choices? Ship-wise I like her with Hope and Janet, and I'd also love to see her interacting more with Bill and Hank.

Hope Van Dyne
I would really love to see more of what she was up to in between the two Ant-Man movies - we know that obviously Civil War really messed things up for her, but I'd like to see more of what actually went down there, or more of her getting closer with her dad and getting involved in the research and adjusting to her own suit and everything. Or, I would like something after the most recent movie! More reunions with getting to see her mother again after so long! What kind of life do they settle into (at least before the epilogue???) I would love to see her interacting more with her parents, or I also ship her really hard with both Ava and Scott.

Karl Mordo
He was so good in the movie! I would love more about how he ended up Kamar-Taj and learning magic - does it tie into how rigid he gets about the rules? What was his relationship with the Ancient One like? How would things have gone for him if the fight with Kaecilius/Dormammu had never happened, or he hadn't discovered the Ancient One's deception? Or what is he doing now that he's gone off on his own? How does his inevitable reunion with Strange and Wong go down? Is there any coming back, or is he full sorcerer serial killer from now on? Shipping wise, I like him with Stephen, Wong, and Kaecilius.

Stephen Strange
He's my favorite from Marvel comics and I'm so happy his movie was so good! I'd love more of training that we didn't get to see, or any moments with Ancient One or Mordo in between the scenes of the movie, or I would like more of him adjusting to his new way of life now that he's the Sorcerer Supreme. More of him with Wong! More of him trying to explain things to Christine! More crazy eldritch horror for him to fight! Kaecilius coming back from the Dark Dimension to fight him some more! OR, what was his plan in Infinity War???? Or just future fic. If you want to write shipping fic, I like him with Christine, Kaecilius, Wong, Mordo, Tony, Thanos, literally anyone, he's kind of my black dress of characters.


Rogue One
Bodhi Rook
I love him, and the way he was so determined to see his mission through. And I have so many questions and things I want to see with him! What was his life like growing up? Why did he decide to become a pilot, and what happened to his family after that? What were things like for him as a pilot before he met Galen? What would have happened to him if he'd been caught by the Empire before he made it to Saw? How deeply did the Bor Gullet end up affecting him? If he had survived, what would he have gone on to do after Scarif? How would he have fit in with the Alliance? What would he have done after the fall of the Empire? If you want to write ship fic with him, I like him with Galen, Jyn, Luke, Leia, Krennic and Bor Gullet! 

Galen Erso
So much history! I would love to know what life was like for him early in the Futures Program, or on Lah'mu! Or later, what life was like for him working for Krennic on Eadu? How did he pull himself through the day? How much freedom did he have? How much did everybody but Krennic know about the circumstances surrounding his presence? Or how would life for him and his family have turned out if he had fled directly to the Rebellion instead of trying to hide on Lah'mu? What would have happened if he'd survived Eadu? Or what if Krennic had never found him on Lah'mu? I always want more of him interacting with Jyn, either as a child or as an adult, and I ship him with Lyra, Krennic, Bodhi, Cassian, Vader, Saw, Qi'ra, very nearly everybody he has ever or might have ever talked to. 

Jyn Erso
I always want more backstory - what her life was like between being left on Lah'mu and being picked up again by Cassian at the beginning of the movie? There's so much there I want to read about, especially how her sense of herself and her family changes over time. What kind of fights was she in? How did life as her various different aliases vary? How did she relate to the other members of Saw's gang? Alternatively, I would love anything where she survives Scarif - what would she do from there? How would she adjust once the war was over? That I would love wish fulfillment AUs where one or both of her parents survive somehow and she gets to have that (or you could just have them survive and then kill them again a little later). Or, really, any kind of canon-divergent AU. As far as relationships go, I would love more of her with her family, and I also like her with Bodhi, Cassian, Enfys, Qi'ra, Leia, Luke, Mothma, and Krennic.

Orson Krennic
I love how he can be so smart and calculating and manipulative in some respects, and just utterly self-destructive in others. I'd love anything with him - struggling for position right out of the academy, or trying to hold Project Celestial Power together after Galen leaves. What happens to him when there's really no higher position attainable for him to grasp at? I'd also love anything about his childhood! I'd also love him interacting with other Imperials in pretty much any capacity! Or where does he end up if Galen's message never reached got past Saw, and the Death Star was a huge success going forward? Does he finally get to meet Palpatine? Or under what circumstances would he maybe defect? If you want to write shipfic/smut, I love him with Galen, Lyra, Jyn, Tarkin, Qi'ra, Dryden, and Vader. 



Solo
Dryden Vos
I loved him, I thought Paul Bettany did such a good job acting totally unhinged! I would love backstory, and how he ended up the kind of person he did. How did he end up in the Crimson Dawn? How did he get those scars on his face? What was his relationship with Maul like? How did he first end up on Corellia in the right time and place to find Qi'ra? How many other run-ins has he had with Enfys Nest? Or how many times has he had Beckett and his gangs run jobs for him? Or I would love anything where he lives longer, or comes back as some kind of rage ghost to take revenge. If you'd like to write ships, I like him with Qi'ra, Maul, and Beckett, or Krennic, or whatever Crimson Dawn OCs you want to go with.


Enfys Nest
I would love more background for her! She's such a tantalizing character, and I really hope she pops up in the EU, because she's got so much potential stories. I would love anything about her childhood, her relationship with her mother, or any kind of adventure with her and her group raiding Syndicates and Imperials. How do common, unaffiliated people see her, and how does she want to be seen? What inspires her to take off her mask and explain herself to the Millennium Falcon group instead of solving the problem through violence? Does she consider herself and her group a part of the Alliance proper, or are they a separate piece of Rebellion? On top of shipping her with Qi'ra and Jyn and I'd also love to see her with Mon Mothma, or with Lyra Erso (either she survives Lah'mu and they meet later, or maybe the Ersos flee from Coruscant directly to the nascent rebel groups instead of trying to hid on Lah'mu in the first place). 

Qi'ra
My initial thoughts on Solo pretty much boiled down to 'Qi'ra's cape in the trailer is really nice, I miss having Star Wars women with elaborate costume changes every other scene, I guess I will see this in the theater.' I WAS UNPREPARED FOR THE EXTEND OF MY QI'RA FEELINGS. I would love more backstory - what are the things she's done that she's most ashamed of? How did end up moving from the White Worms to such a position of power in Crimson Dawn? What motivates her to keep moving forward, and how does she handle that streak of sentimentality she still seems to carry with her? And what kind of leader will she be going forward? Does she have some kind of end goal, or is the goal just to survive as long as she can? If you want to write ship fic or smut, as mentioned already I like her with Enfys, L3-37, Jyn, Aphra, and Lady Proxima. I also would love to see more of her relationship with Dryden. I'm also really interested in how the syndicates balance their position within the Empire, and I'd love to see her with Tarkin, Krennic, Galen, Thrawn, Pryce, or Sloane.


Star Trek AOS
Jaylah
I love Jaylah and I want anything to do with her! How much does she remember about her birth planet? What was it like for her growing up alone, with nothing except videos & music for company? What is her life like at the Academy? Is it hard being around people again, or is she happy about the change? What kind of education track does she end up on? When she graduates, is she going to go straight to the Enterprise? If so, how does she blend in with the rest of the crew? I would love anything with her going on adventures and getting to explore new planets, either as a cadet or as an Enterprise crew member. I ship her with anyone from the Enterprise crew, or Michael Burnham! And if you want to do crossovers I also really like they idea of her with Rey or Jyn from Star Wars.


Star Trek TOS
Leonard "Bones" McCoy
Bones! I love him, I would love him getting to solve space medical mysteries, or dramatically sacrificing himself to save another member of the crew, or even some random alien he just met. I'd love him getting trapped somewhere, and having to make the best of it, or something with him being thrown back to the Mirror universe! I'd also love anything were he gets some weird alien disease and everyone else has to figure out how to help him while he's out of commission! I'd also love anything with him being kind of messed up from having Spock in his head so many times. I ship him with Spock, Chapel, Uhura, and Kirk (or the Mirror versions of any of those people), and I would love seeing him interact with any of the rest of the crew! 

Nyota Uhura
I would love to get her see her use her linguistic skills, or something where she gets to show off her interest in music! I also liked that episode where her memory got wiped and she had to re-learn English from scratch, and I'd love anything that delves into the aftermath of that. I also love her getting to go on away missions and interacting with new kinds of aliens. Or I love her Mirror verse, what if she'd been stuck over there? Or what if Mirror Uhura had been stuck in our universe? For shipping, I like her with Chapel, McCoy, Scotty, and Spock, or again any of the Mirror versions of them. For art, I really love the colors of the original series, especially in the uniforms themselves! 


Star Trek DIS
Michael Burnham
I love Michael so much - I was so leery of the "Spock has a sister" thing, but she's perfect and everything I wanted in a Star Trek lead. She's so smart, and compassionate, but even I think even though she was clearly loved her upbringing has left her a real emotional mess. I'd love something that deals with how she grows into seeing the other crew members of the Discovery as her friends, and how she handles her emotions being around people in a normal setting after having been imprisoned. How does she react when those people are threatened? Or, I would love more of her growing up and her relationships with Amanda and Sarek, or more about what she remembers of her original parents. I would also love something set during her legal proceedings/imprisonment after Binary Stars! Pairings-wise, if you want to write ship fic, in addition to the Georgiou pairings I also love her with Tilly, Saru, Ash, Katrina, and Lorca. Mirror and normal versions!

Mirror Philippa Georgiou
I want to know more about her! How did she come into power - did she inherit it, or fight for it, or was it a mixture of both things? What made her decide she wanted to adopt a child - had she planned to adopt, or was it a whim or opportunity she seized in the moment? How did she handle it when her Michael died? I'd also love anything action - putting down rebellions, cleaning up after Lorca's attempted coup, or how she first decided Klepians were tasty. I'd love her interacting with the other Mirror versions of her old crew besides just mostly Michael - with Captain Killy, with poor Mirror Saru, or with any of the others. Or more of her terrorizing the poor normal versions! Intimidating Tilly, who doesn't really have any pre-existing notions of her, or just straight-up tormenting poor Saru, who really cared about his Philippa and who's basically a slave at best or a snack at worst to this version of her. Or tempting Cornwell's morals with ruthless plans to destroy Starfleet's enemies! I ship her with pretty much anyone you could write, honestly, including all versions of Michael, Tilly, Saru, Katrina, and Lorca.
