ATOMIC BLONDE
Delphine Lasalle, Lorraine Broughton
I loved everything about this movie, from the glorious neon-noir aesthetic to the soundtrack to the amazing characters. And the way both the fighting and sex scenes were shot with such captivating energy. I really love both Delphine and Lorraine, and I really enjoyed how they both have such different relationships to the work they do. As with nearly every movie I've ever loved, my only complaint is that we only get such a brief look at the characters and their lives. I would love any sort of missing scene from the film, or any sort of backstory for either character about how they got into their profession.
- Delphine survives! Either permanently or just long enough to twist the knife in harder! How does everything play out if Lorraine makes it in time to interrupt the assassination attempt? I would also love to see the fallout of her finding out Lorraine’s secret.
- I would love casefic of them solving a mystery or hunting down an enemy spy together. Or one of them rescuing the other after having been kidnapped/tortured!
- I would love to read something about how either of them got involved with spy work in the first place. Or, after the movie, if Delphine had survived would she still want to be involved in it? Would Lorraine even be able to retire if she wanted to, or is she ~in too deep~? Or what if Lorraine had died instead?
THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES
Coriolanus Snow, Lucy Gray Baird
I feel like when this book was announced everybody was asking who the audience for it was, and the answer is me! I am the audience! I loved every word of it! I really enjoyed the characterization, especially in how Snow has legitimately had terrible things happen to him and his family and has reasons for the way he is and at the same time he’s just awful. Like even when he’s technically doing the right thing he has to at least be thinking something terrible at the same time. And Lucy Gray is such a great foil, because there’s that sense that she’s performing in everything she does, but she’s still a very sincere person in her feelings and also that kind of slow dawning realization about Snow being actually a terrible person was wonderful.
- I would love more backstory for either of them - Lucy Gray’s life back in District 13, Snow’s experiences during the war or during the rebuilding of the Capitol.
- II’d love to see some of the scenes from the book from Lucy Gray’s point of view - what was it like in the Arena? What were her feelings afterward, once she was sent home? How did she feel about that relationship developing with Snow?
- I’d really love some kind of canon divergence! Like, what if Snow’s cheating hadn’t been caught? What if Lucy Gray had been kept in the Capitol, or what if she’d been treated like the later victors? Or, what if Snow hadn’t had his breakdown, or had the chance to get back in the Capitol, and they’d already run away together before the mismatch became apparent? Or if they’d just actually managed to find some real alone time together at some point.
- I’d also love something post canon - what does happen to Lucy Gray once she runs north? Or Snow putting his life together back in the Capitol, maybe how his experiences influence his running of later games. Or something with him being super weird about his cousin would great.
- I like Snow/Lucy Gray, but I’d also love something about Lucy Gray’s relationships with he people back in 13 or Snow and his classmates, including Snow/Sejanus, or Snow/Tigris.
DRACULA (HAMMER MOVIES)
Van Helsing, Marianne Danielle
I love the whole Dracula series films from Hammer, they’re all so earnestly melodramatic and I love it! Especially Brides of Dracula, there’s so much swooning and it’s all so classically romantic even if it’s not exactly a romance film. The acting always really sells these Hammer films, especially Peter Cushing as Van Helsing, and I wish there’s been a million more films made. Or at least that we’d gotten one or two more with Marianne!
- I always like more backstory! I would love more of Van Helsing’s history, how he got into vampire hunting, or more of where Marianne came from and what she was hoping to get out of moving away for a teaching job.
- Or, after the movie - maybe some other vampires are hunting them down for revenge? A run in with actual Dracula would be fantastic! Or maybe they maintain a friendship even after they’ve gone their separate ways, or maybe they meet again some years later - by chance, or maybe one of them has run into a problem and reaches out?
- Or a straightforward romance, I would love to see her going off to get married to him!
- Or, the tragedy ending - what if she does get turned right in front of Van Helsing like the Baron planned? What if he gets turned in the process of trying to save her? I would just love anything where things go horribly wrong.
- Aside from Van Helsing/Marianne, I also always love Van Helsing/Dracula, and I would also love Marianne/vampires - either getting ravished by the Baron, or Gina, or both of them.
FATE/ZERO
Artoria Pendragon, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Ahhhh, the old Type-Moon gateway drug. I love the tragedy of this whole thing, and how Artoria and Diarmuid are so well-suited to each other in personality but the situation just completely fucks them over. Like, even top of of the whole fight-to-the-death thing they’ve got their masters to deal with. In a lot of ways it feels almost like a reprieve, of sorts, until the brutality of the ending. I think Grand Order/FSN aren’t Yuletide eligible, but I do love both of them so please feel free to include whatever canon you want from them.
- backstory backstory backstory - I can’t believe we’ve had so much Artoria and so much of her backstory is still a mystery, I would love to see more of it. Or more of Diarmuid’s time with the Knights! Or more about how Artoria’s tragedy with her knights and Diarmuid’s tragedy with his former master influence how them see each other. Diarmuid as a knight respects her as the King of Knights while the other Kings don’t.
- More fighting! Maybe they can figure out a way to convince their masters to let them team up against more than just Caster? Or just them getting a few hours to themselves without their masters interfering.
- Or more of them running into each other in different lifetimes/dreams/whatever.
- Artoria having to deal with Diarmuid’s crazy vengeful ghost!
- I like the two of them together both in terms of a normal romantic relationship and also in the ‘will you please do me the honor of fighting me’ type of way. I also really like Artoria/Iri, Artoria/Lancelot and Diarmuid/Kayneth! Or the whole dramatic love triangle on that side. Or either Artoria or Diarmuid/both fo them with Caster’s tentacle monsters.
KILLJOYS
Dutch, Aneela
I love this show and how it just pours on the drama with Dutch and Aneela and their insanely complicated family relationships ♥ I would love more of their relationship, and how Aneela is kind of her mom in that she created her but then also really more like a sister who spends a faire amount of time jealous that their dad pays more attention to Dutch than to her. So many great messy feelings!
- Something post-canon would be great! What kind of insane family reunions would they have? Or, what kind of leaders do Aneela and Delle Seyah make, and how does that affect what Dutch is trying to do? I would also love Aneela having to reckon with her past actions.
- I would also love them sharing memories in the Green, or experiencing psychedelic dreams together there, or trying to get past their issues to work as a team to escape The Lady/the Hullen.
- Or all the AUs in the world!!! What if Khlyen hadn’t separated them when Dutch was made? Or at the very least hadn’t erased her from Aneela’s memories? Or something with Aneela having her Hullen turn on her - maybe Dutch ends up having to rescue her?
- This is such a good show for action, I would love some kind of mission/case fic where either one or both of them have to shoot/murder their way out of a bad situation.
- I like Aneela/Dutch as a pairing, and I also really love both of them (separately? together??) with Delle Seyah. I also love the family dynamics and would love more of them with Khlyen, with their mother, reacting to Khlyen trying to turn The Lady into murder daughter number three. And if you want to go full on incest drama I would absolutely be game for Dutch/Khlyen or Aneela/Khlyen.
LEGEND OF THE GALACTIC HEROES
Yang Wen-li, Walter von Schönkopf
110 episodes + gaiden still isn’t enough to satisfy me! There’s so much room for backstory or missing scenes or really interesting what-ifs. Yang and Schönkopf are probably my favorites, which is saying a lot with a series that boasts so many really great characters. I really love the intensity of the relationship - Yang puts to much trust in him, even when Schönkopf insists on playing the devil on his shoulder, and Schönkopf is so devotedly loyal so quickly.
I don’t have strong feelings about the name spellings, please use whichever variation you like best. I’ve also seen Die Neue These, and I’m find with you using/incorporating that canon (that scene where he walked him right back into the chair while trying to convince him to take power???), the only thing I would specifically like you to avoid is that I wasn’t into the way their first meeting went down in that version.
- I would love something right after Iserlohn, when the 13th fleet is still gelling together and they’re still getting to know each other. What was it like right after the took the fortress? How quickly did they get a feel for each other?
- AU where season 3 ends differently - how does the conflict with the Empire end that way? Or what if Schönkopf had gone with Yang to meet with Reinhard?
- I just always really love backstory - more about Schönkopf and how he adjusted to life in the FPA is always good, or his time with the Rosen Ritter. Or more about Yang and his academy days! Or trying to go generally unnoticed in the military before El Facil!
- I’d love something slice-of-life, set either in the quieter periods of life on Iserlohn, or anything with them interacting while they were under observations on Heinessen.
- Or, in completely the opposite direction, more action! More dramatically rescuing Yang from captivity! Or one of them gets terribly injured and the other has a lot of feelings about it!
- Aside from Yang/Schönkopf, I really love all of the relationships inside the FPA/Iserlohn side of the conflict - Yang & Cazerne and his family, Yang & Julian, Yang & his admirals, Schönkopf and the rest of the Rosen Ritter, etc. I also ship Yang/Frederica, Yang/Frederica/Schönkopf, Yang/Dusty, Yang/Jessica, Yang/Jessica/Jean Robert, Schönkopf/Dusty, and Schönkopf/Linz.
